Dr. James F. Ripley

DMD
Dr. Ripley knew as a sophomore in high school he wanted to be a dentist! He grew up on a western New York farm and the ol’ country dentist never hurt him(much) and always had a nice new car and a long vacation every year. Coming from very humble beginnings with a solid work ethic, the path to SUNY at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine seemed natural.

Following dental school, Dr. Ripley served five (5) years in the US Air Force where he took every advantage of the many opportunities to practice and improve his clinical skills in several General Practice Residency formatted clinics during his base assignments. He had early introductions to IV sedation and was tutored by several very influential outstanding surgeons in the Air Force. He left the military as Major and went directly to specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the UTHSC at San Antonio, TX. He obtained an Internship in Anesthesia and a very solid scope of training in trauma, pathology, orthognathic surgery, bone grafting and surgical and non-surgical management of TMJ patients. After graduating, Dr. Ripley became a Fellow of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and further developed an extensive implant based reconstructive surgical practice.

Dr. Ripley’s interests are many. Because of a fairly limited math science focus, with little liberal arts background, he has acquired an extensive eclectic personal library with emphasis on Navajo and Western Lore, Peloponnesian War, current affairs and Middle East History. After no longer playing tennis competitively well into his 50s, he I still an avid sports fan, a past Spurs season ticket holder and a slightly better than average fisherman, enjoying fly tying and rod building almost as much as the streams. Irma is his best and most enthusiastic fly fishing buddy and they love travel, missions, hiking and music.

Dr. Ripley has practiced in many clinic environments and is anxious to provide a full scope of comprehensive clinical services in a state-of-the-art, truly professional, service oriented general dentistry based and multi-specialty supported group practice.
